Vienna, darling! A pink tutu waltz through the waltz capital 🩰🌸 (Post #1348)

Hello darlings, and welcome back to the Pink Tutu Vienna blog! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another waltzing adventure through the beautiful city of Vienna. My pink tutu and I are positively brimming with excitement to share all the gorgeous things we've discovered this week.

Now, Vienna is not just the capital of Austria, it's practically the capital of waltz, ballet, and all things exquisitely elegant! It’s the birthplace of the Waltz, where Strauss waltzes are still danced to this very day in elegant balls and soirées. As a tutu-wearing ballerina, my heart absolutely sings here, and Vienna truly feels like home.

This week, my schedule was packed with ballets, beautiful clothes shopping, and of course, a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride. Speaking of carriages, remember that fabulous vintage carriage I saw the other week? Well, I managed to nab tickets for a private tour through the heart of the city – my dream come true! It felt like stepping back in time, trotting past magnificent buildings and cobblestone streets. A dream! My pink tutu fluttered ever so gracefully with the wind in my hair. What could be more romantic?

The weather was rather brisk, and I'm very much enjoying these colder days. Nothing quite says winter elegance like a luxurious, velvety, pink coat! Oh, the beautiful colour palette in Vienna at this time of year – there’s the deep browns and ochre hues of the buildings, contrasted against the snow-dusted greenery of the park, a real spectacle.

Talking of spectacle, I was treated to an absolutely sublime performance at the Vienna State Opera on Saturday evening. The production was “La Traviata” – a favourite of mine – and I was so blown away by the beauty of the sets, the sheer power of the music and the graceful artistry of the dancers. It was one of those evenings where you leave the theatre feeling utterly transported and emotionally enriched. I won’t even mention the sublime gown I wore – you all saw my Instagram post! 😉

On Sunday, I treated myself to a very special class with Vienna’s very own ballet legend – Annabella Von Liszt. It was an unforgettable experience. I was so mesmerized by her graceful movements, her passion for dance, and her stories of the great ballerinas of the past. She even shared some of her secrets to perfect arabesque! I’m already planning my next visit to Annabella’s class, I’m practically skipping with excitement.

My week also involved much-needed retail therapy, and my dear friends, Vienna's shopping is something special! It’s like a haven for the well-dressed! You can’t walk more than ten paces without spotting a breathtaking boutique showcasing some beautiful fabrics and exquisite design, I was literally in heaven! Of course, I treated myself to some very beautiful things, new shoes (pink of course!), and a magnificent pink silk scarf – a touch of Parisian elegance with an added Vienna twirl.

But before we close off this week's blog, darlings, I want to share a piece of my heart. My grandmother told me stories about the amazing tutus of the 1920s and 1930s, how they would have feathers and be encrusted with rhinestones, like an amazing and beautiful fairy costume! And there is still so much to be discovered about the history of the tutu! I dream of starting a museum, somewhere in Europe, full of amazing, beautiful historical tutus from across the ages – it would be spectacular. Maybe one day!

It is with a heart full of excitement that I’ll say goodbye for now! Until next week, darlings, and don't forget, every day is a chance to embrace the joy of a pink tutu! Remember, visit my website, www.pink-tutu.com, for more updates on my Viennese adventures! Let’s spread pink joy all over the world!
