Pink Tutu Vienna: #1365 - Whirlwind Waltz Through Vienna

Guten Tag, my lovely lovelies! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back from a whirlwind adventure in the enchanting city of Vienna.

As I always say, every Wednesday, I waltz onto the web with my adventures for you! And today's blog is particularly special as I share the highlights of my latest Austrian escapade. Vienna, known for its waltz, is a city that whispers stories of grandeur, and trust me, this ballerina couldn't resist taking a twirl amongst the palaces, parks, and museums!

Vienna is a city that just begs you to slip into a stunning pink tutu. Imagine waltzing through Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, past the elegant Baroque architecture, in a soft tulle masterpiece! The city simply demands it. And that’s exactly what I did! I twirled around every cobbled corner, delighting in the reactions of the locals. I mean, who wouldn't smile at a girl in a pink tutu, pirouetting through the heart of Vienna?

Speaking of twirling, I made a beeline for the Vienna State Opera House. The architecture of this majestic building simply took my breath away! I have to confess, I even took a few photos of myself in my tutu with the majestic building as the backdrop – what’s a pink tutu lover to do?

Vienna, my darlings, is a city brimming with a love for the arts. From the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra to the numerous theatres showcasing a diverse range of shows, the artistic spirit thrives. This week, I attended a dazzling ballet performance. It was set to Strauss’ famous "Blue Danube Waltz" and even I, a seasoned ballet enthusiast, was captivated by the sheer beauty and grace of the performance. It was a magical night, and I truly felt the spirit of Vienna in every note and pirouette.

And, let's talk about the shopping! Vienna is a shopper's paradise. It's the perfect place to indulge in fashion fantasies, from finding elegant vintage accessories at the Naschmarkt to discovering designer treasures on the Kohlmarkt. Naturally, I spent an entire afternoon exploring Vienna's designer boutiques and, you guessed it, bought another pink tutu. Because a ballerina can never have too many tutus! And trust me, they really did fit right in amongst the high fashion trends. Pink tutu magic strikes again!

Vienna was also a real treat for my love of history. Every street corner tells a story - the grandeur of the Hofburg Palace, the history of the Vienna Philharmonic at the Musikverein, and the poignant reminder of the Vienna Secession movement at the Secession Building. As you know, ballet history is also something I absolutely love and I had a wonderful time exploring Vienna's connection with this art form - from visiting the birthplace of famous ballet stars to uncovering the fascinating evolution of ballet in Austria over the centuries. It’s true, Vienna and ballet have been entwined for a long time - how I love to be surrounded by this kind of passion for my favourite form of art.

And what would a trip to Austria be without a ride on a majestic white steed? I had the chance to explore Vienna's sprawling Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, feeling like a fairytale princess as I glided through the grounds. You might be wondering - “how did she ride the horse?” – let me clarify, this wasn't a gallop to the castle gate; instead, a peaceful and graceful carriage ride. And wouldn't you know, it felt like I was a graceful ballerina pirouetting across the grounds, only the music was the sound of horses’ hooves and the rustling of leaves!

While Vienna is known for its charming trams and trams (I had to have my “Sound of Music” moment – which of course included a few twirls!), there's something utterly romantic about exploring the city by train. It was on the Vienna Schnellbahn train line, I saw my reflection in a window and noticed my tulle had caught the sunlight in a truly stunning way – a symphony of pink across the countryside! And it gave me the idea to add some photos of a little tutuing moment, outside of the main city, into the blog this week!

Vienna, for all its waltzing, classical music, and cultural splendour, is a city that understands the beauty of the simple things in life - fresh-baked pastries, a cup of warm coffee in a quaint café, and of course, a sprinkle of pink tutu magic.

Oh, and on 30th June, what a glorious day it was! My beautiful city of Vienna shone bright - from the sunshine glistening on the Danube River, to the smiling faces in the public gardens. There was even a little fair, the one you can only find in Vienna during June and July. Such magic!

Now, I mustn’t forget! You must go check out www.pink-tutu.com. Remember, that’s the site where my blog is found! A new blog post is available every Wednesday. Why not subscribe and get updates sent directly to your inbox? I can’t wait to bring you the next exciting chapter from my travels.

My darlings, remember my life's mission: To encourage everyone, and I mean everyone, to embrace the sheer joy of wearing a pink tutu! It's more than just a garment – it's a statement of freedom, creativity, and most importantly, fun! It's a reminder to embrace the joy of every moment. So, twirl on my sweet readers, and let your hearts flutter like a ballerina's dress!

Love and pirouettes,

Emma x
