Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #1436 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!
Bonjour, mes chĆ©ries! Itās Wednesday, which means itās time for another instalment of your favourite pink tutu-filled travelogue, direct from the heart of Vienna! This week, itās a very special post because Iām in Vienna for the first time, and let me tell you, this city is practically made for a tutu-loving ballerina like myself!
So, where do I begin? Vienna is like a beautiful waltz spun to life. Everywhere I turn, I see history whispering through the cobblestone streets, art hanging from every palace wall, and cafes overflowing with Viennese charm. This city is a symphony of culture, and my little pink tutu heart is doing a joyful pirouette just thinking about it!
A Train Journey Steeped in History
Now, you all know how much I adore travelling by train. This week, I took a rather epic journey through Germany, passing quaint villages and fields bathed in the golden glow of autumn. The click-clack of the train wheels was a lullaby to my soul, and I spent the hours enjoying a lovely picnic of sandwiches, pastries and, of course, pink prosecco.
A Pink Tutu in the Palace of Schƶnbrunn
Speaking of picnics, I must tell you about my visit to the glorious Schƶnbrunn Palace! Imagine: a sprawling estate fit for an empress, with majestic gardens, grand halls, and a charming little cafe tucked away in a secluded courtyard. This place oozes history! The Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth would have wandered these same halls! I twirled in my pink tutu in the Rose Garden, dreaming of waltzing with a handsome prince, while a mischievous little dog scampered after me. (He might have been dreaming of chasing a pink-tuted mouse!)
Ballet in Vienna ā A World of Beauty
But Vienna isnāt just about castles and pastries (although they are most certainly a major highlight!), Vienna is about Ballet. Itās about waltzing in glittering gowns, about grace and artistry, and a passionate love of all things classical. Last night, I saw a production of āThe Sleeping Beautyā at the Vienna State Opera. I wonāt bore you with details, but letās just say my heart did a double pirouette. The dancing, the music, the costumes ā it was truly magnificent! I have a feeling I might need to come back again for more ballet - perhaps I'll catch Swan Lake!
Vienna Through the Eyes of a Ballerina
Now, you may be wondering, what about fashion, what about shopping, and what about all the glorious pink things in Vienna? Donāt worry, my dearest tutu-loving friends, Vienna is full of wonders for any fashionista! The boutiques are teeming with unique and chic designs, the shops overflow with stylish accessories and clothes in every shade of the rainbow (including my favourite ā pink!), and I even discovered a fantastic shop that sells handmade tutus! My little ballet heart sang with joy ā imagine all the possible outfit combinations!
I even treated myself to a bespoke waltz gown in an ethereal pale blue. And oh, the fabrics! The shop had silks and velvets, tulle and satin, all shimmering like starlight on a winterās night! Iām sure I'll find more lovely pink outfits in my trip here - and possibly some fantastic black ballet shoes.
Food, Fashion, andā¦ More Ballet?
My dear readers, Vienna is a treasure trove of experiences, and it is all a bit overwhelming ā in the very best way possible! I've tried local delights like Wiener Schnitzel (oh my goodness, itās amazing!), Sachertorte (rich, decadent chocolate!), and even some delightful Viennese coffee with Viennese Strudel. (It all washed down quite nicely with pink Prosecco - what else?)
So much has happened in these few days, and Iāve barely scratched the surface. Iām determined to explore more of this magnificent city ā from visiting the opulent Habsburg palaces to experiencing Viennaās vibrant nightlife, and yes, of course, indulging in some more exquisite ballet!
Join me next Wednesday, my dear readers, as I unravel more of the pink and sparkly magic of Vienna.
I hope this weekās post has inspired you to get your tutus twirling and maybe even add a Viennese waltz or two to your repertoire!
Yours truly, Emma Pink Tutu Vienna
