Vienna Waltz: A Pink Tutu Adventure (#1544)

Well hello my lovely tutu-lovers! It’s Emma here, back from the beautiful city of Vienna, and trust me, my pink tutu and I had a ball! I’ve been eagerly awaiting this trip since I first spied the snow-capped Alps on the horizon last month. Vienna is, after all, the heart of waltz music, and what's a pink tutu without a bit of graceful swirling? And let’s be honest, every city looks prettier when viewed from the top of a horse-drawn carriage, don't you think?

As ever, I chose the train as my mode of transport. The romance of it all! I find that train journeys inspire me creatively, especially when there’s a charming gentleman across the aisle in a well-tailored suit, and of course, a few sips of English Breakfast tea (served in the traditional teapot, naturally!). I managed to catch up on all the latest tutu designs and even designed a new sparkly one myself in my head. Inspiration is everywhere when you know where to look!

Vienna, the City of Music and Romance:

It’s fair to say that Vienna is a truly enchanting city, just as it was centuries ago. As I wandered the cobbled streets, I felt like I'd stepped onto the set of a period drama! The elegant architecture, the music flowing from street musicians, and the gentle clinking of horses' hooves on the pavement; it was a fairytale come to life.

My first stop, naturally, had to be the Vienna State Opera House, the majestic heart of Vienna's cultural scene. I wore my newest pink tutu, of course - a feather-light affair in blush pink silk with a touch of silver sparkle for added glamour. I took the opportunity to buy a souvenir from their shop: a miniature tutu that was just perfect for my ballerina charm bracelet. It’s quite a collection now; I always bring back a souvenir from every ballet show. It’s a little bit of me in each city, like little ballerina whispers.

A Waltz Through Time

I love how Vienna is infused with history - it's like you can almost touch the past! I visited the Schönbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg Emperors. The grounds are incredibly romantic, with grand fountains, a maze that could keep you amused for hours (especially if you take along a handsome stranger… just sayin'!), and a beautiful flower garden that rivaled the Parisian ones I visited last month.

Vienna is, of course, famed for its iconic Viennese waltzes. Imagine me, in my pink tutu, twirling through the streets, the music lifting me above the ground, imagining myself in the arms of a handsome waltz partner. I even caught a traditional waltzing performance at one of Vienna’s many beautiful dance halls – pure magic! And naturally, the waltz theme was reflected in the beautiful shops and markets, all adorned with ornate jewellery and delicate glassware - just perfect for a ballerina’s souvenir collection.

Feline Finery

Vienna even has a magnificent cat café, the Katzentempel! They have adorable kitties from every breed under the sun. I could barely contain myself with their fluffiness! Of course, I bought a pink tutu-themed cat collar to support the wonderful charity that takes care of all these rescued fur babies. A ballerina never says "no" to supporting a good cause.

Horse and Carriage Rides

There's nothing more glamorous and romantic than a horse and carriage ride. And here in Vienna, I indulged in a carriage ride to truly experience the city like a princess! Imagine: The wind blowing through my hair, the gentle clinking of the carriage wheels against the cobbles, and the sound of the horses hooves hitting the street. This was a perfect fairytale ending for my Viennese adventure! I even wore a special floral-patterned headpiece I found in the gorgeous Viennese market stalls! The flowers coordinated with my tutu, of course.

Where To Find The Pinkest Places In Vienna:

You can't visit Vienna without a sweet treat or two. A stop at the Demel bakery was definitely on the list, with its intricate cakes, delicately iced pastries, and the sweetest aroma of freshly baked confections – a sensory experience for all my senses!

If you are looking for beautiful places for photos, don’t forget to stop by the Belveder Palace – not just the Palace itself but the beautiful gardens. I think I may have taken about 47 photos in my tutu outside these gardens (at least one for every member of the Pink Tutu tribe, of course!),

Don’t miss out on the Vienna Museum for some serious art appreciation, from paintings and sculptures to modern art – a kaleidoscope of cultural creativity to immerse yourself in!

And for the fashion-loving ballerinas like myself, Vienna offers an exciting blend of luxury boutiques and independent shops. I spent a morning browsing along Kärntner Strasse and the Graben shopping streets and picked up the most amazing, handcrafted pink tutu skirt from a local Viennese boutique – perfect for those Vienna nights on the town! I paired it with a pair of simple ballet pumps that allowed me to strut my stuff in all the right ways, from exploring museums to swirling in elegant waltzes across the dance floor!

The Vienna Takeaway:

Vienna is the perfect destination for a tutu-loving ballerina – the music, the history, the beautiful scenery, the stunning architecture, the charming shops and of course, the people! And that’s before I even mention the delicious food!

Until next week my darling tutu-lovers! I’ll be catching my breath, before planning my next big trip, hopefully to somewhere tropical. You’ll be the first to know! I promise you’ll love what I’m planning… it’ll involve feathers, sparkles, a beach and a pink tutu (or two)!

Remember, wear pink and dance the day away,

Emma x
