Oh, hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu travels! Today I'm writing to you from the most fabulous city - Vienna! It's like stepping into a fairytale, with its grand palaces, cobbled streets, and oh-so-elegant atmosphere.
I arrived yesterday afternoon, having hopped on a train from Munich, and I'm already feeling utterly charmed by this enchanting city. I love how Vienna breathes a romantic and graceful energy. Just the thought of Mozart, Strauss, and all those incredible waltzes puts a spring in my step!
And what better way to celebrate this city than with a magnificent tutu twirl, of course? As I stepped off the train, I couldn't help but twirl my way onto the platform, my perfectly pink tulle catching the sunlight as it fluttered around me. The other travellers seemed slightly bewildered, but I can't blame them - a pink tutu just sets a whole different tone for any adventure!
Before I go on about my Viennese escapades, let's have a little chat about my trip to Munich. It was truly lovely. I managed to snag a spot on a horse-drawn carriage tour - a wonderful experience for any tutu-loving traveller! The gentle clip-clop of hooves on the cobbles, the sound of jingling harnesses, and the views of the old town... pure magic! Then I found myself at a beautiful old-world tea salon, where I indulged in delicate finger sandwiches and teacup cakes. Oh, how I love the elegant traditions of these historic European cities!
Back to Vienna now, darlings. This city is a true ballet lover's paradise! I've already seen the State Opera - simply divine! The chandeliers glittering, the exquisite music, and the dancers... I was spellbound! But I mustn't spoil the surprises! The magic of theatre unfolds when you let it surprise you! But don't worry, my dears, I'll be spilling all the secrets in a special post all about the performance, complete with my personal, pink tutu-infused review!
Today, I’m planning on immersing myself in Viennese ballet history. A visit to the Vienna State Ballet's museum is top of the list. I've heard it has incredible costumes and some amazing displays from past performances - perfect for a ballet enthusiast like me!
Speaking of costumes, Vienna is a shopper's dream. You simply can't step onto a street without stumbling across a glamorous shop with the most fabulous dresses and shoes. I can already feel a whole new wardrobe blossoming! And it's all a perfect backdrop for the latest, must-have ballet flats I discovered this week. A vibrant blush pink, they’ll look absolutely smashing with my pink tutu and matching pink-rimmed spectacles, a truly magnificent combination for waltzing down Viennese streets. I'm already envisioning a photo shoot at the Schönbrunn Palace gardens with these beautiful shoes! Oh, it's all too exciting!
Tomorrow, I'm going to take a waltz through Schönbrunn Palace gardens, inspired by Empress Sisi’s grace. The magnificent gardens are said to be even more beautiful at this time of year. They'll be a perfect place to stretch my legs and practise my turns for the Vienna State Ballet's performance this weekend. Did I mention that I'm going to be joining them on stage? A special ballet number inspired by tutus, the colour pink, and the wonder of Vienna, specially choreographed for me by the wonderful Anna - it's an honour!
Now, I mustn’t keep you any longer. It's time to enjoy a slice of Sachertorte, a truly magnificent Vienna pastry! I shall be taking my afternoon tea by the River Danube, so if you happen to see a little pink tutu flouncing across the bridges, it’ll be me, darlings. Do write to me and let me know what you think of Vienna, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Until next week, stay stylish, my lovely pink tutu-wearers!
Emma, signing off from Vienna
