Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #1649 – Whirlwind in Vienna

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? This week, I've taken a whirl through Vienna, the city of waltzes, music, and yes, believe it or not, some fabulously fancy tutus! It's been an absolute delight, and I'm brimming with stories, insights, and, of course, pictures of my gorgeous pink tutus.

As you know, I'm all about travelling, discovering new places, and, most importantly, spreading the pink tutu love wherever I go. This time, I've left my Derbyshire roots for a little European adventure, arriving by a gloriously scenic train journey that I won't forget. (Hint: the carriage windows were perfect for showing off my latest pink tulle creation!)

The Ballet Scene in Vienna:

You'd be surprised how many ballerina-themed shops and galleries this city holds. Even though it's December, I spotted a few cheeky little shops with "Nutcracker" decorations. Speaking of The Nutcracker, there was no way I could resist a visit to the Vienna State Opera. The grand old building, adorned with golden accents, exuded a certain Victorian charm that even my pink tutu couldn't compete with! Thankfully, the Vienna Ballet performed a spectacular show that evening. The graceful movements, the expressive dancers, and the exquisite costumes, oh my! It truly was a treat for the eyes.

But beyond the glamorous performances, I wanted to understand the ballet history of Vienna. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the "Dance and Drama Collection" at the Vienna State Opera House! It's a truly fascinating archive where you can get lost in the world of early dance notations and explore costumes and stage designs. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with the past and understand how ballet in Vienna evolved into what we know and adore today.

Shopping Extravaganza in Vienna:

You simply can't go to Vienna without engaging in some fabulous shopping. Thankfully, this city has some truly unique finds. The "Wiener Sängerknaben Shop" has the most exquisite porcelain dolls, dressed in cute little costumes! This would have been the perfect opportunity for me to add another ballerina doll to my collection. But of course, what caught my eye most was the exquisite collection of handcrafted lace tutus! I had to nab one in the palest pink, just the thing to make a statement in a Viennese café.

And of course, there was a detour to the Kaffehaus Central. Yes, this famous café boasts delicious pastries, decadent coffees and beautiful decor - but the best part? It's one of the locations for a favourite movie of mine, "The Grand Budapest Hotel." You can imagine I was buzzing with excitement, wearing my most glamorous pink tutu, naturally, feeling every inch a Parisian movie star!

Beyond the Ballet:

Vienna is brimming with history and charm, and of course, I just had to explore. I took a beautiful horse-drawn carriage ride through the heart of the city, my pink tutu swirling as the carriage swayed. We stopped at the magnificent St. Stephen's Cathedral, with its stunning gothic architecture. The soaring spires and intricate stonework left me breathless. And the little shops lining the cobbled streets? Pure vintage chic. I was smitten with a quirky vintage clothing store that had a pink sequined dress just begging for me to wear it!

Pink Tutu Tips for Vienna:

  1. Embrace the waltz: Vienna is synonymous with waltz, so don't be afraid to spin around and twirl! This is the perfect opportunity to show off your inner ballerina.
  2. Embrace the beauty: There's beauty everywhere you look in Vienna. Don't be afraid to wander the side streets and explore hidden alleyways. You never know what treasures you'll discover.
  3. Make sure you see the Vienna State Opera and take a stroll through the Volksgarten.
  4. Find a cosy café for a leisurely lunch: A classic Viennese café is a must. Imagine the delightful scenes with my pink tutu on display and all the gossip flowing...

As I pen these words, Vienna feels like a dream. A whirl of music, magic and elegance - what better way to end my blog post? It's time for me to go and explore more of Vienna. This enchanting city has captured my heart, and I know it will forever hold a special place in my heart, not least because of its beautiful ballet heritage.

Stay fabulous my loves!

Love,

Emma
